Functional Mobility & Functional Strength Classes
Our Functional Mobility and Functional Strength classes are designed to help you move with more ease, control, and confidence while building a sustainable foundation for long-term movement health.
The goal isnt aesthetics but longevity.
Functional Mobility focuses on restoring joint range of motion, improving tissue adaptability, and increasing body awareness through intentional movement and breath. The goal is to give your body better access to the positions it needs for daily life, exercise, and overall joint health. This classes include a full hour of guided, full-body mobility work focused on improving range of motion, coordination, and movement quality in a supportive group environment.
Functional Strength builds on that foundation by training strength through real-world movement patterns. Rather than isolating muscles, we emphasize breath coordination, movement coordination, stability, and control so your body learns to produce force efficiently and safely.
Together, these classes help you:
-
Move more freely and efficiently
-
Build strength that supports everyday life
-
Reduce compensation patterns and injury risk
-
Improve overall body awareness and resilience
These classes are accessible for all levels and are ideal for anyone looking to move better, feel stronger, and create a more sustainable approach to fitness—whether you're a runner, managing pain or stiffness, returning to movement, or simply wanting to improve how your body functions day to day.
Class Structure & Scheduling
Our Functional Strength sessions are scheduled based on client and therapist availability rather than a fixed weekly timetable. Once a client and trainer agree on a time, the session is added to the schedule as a small-group class with a maximum of two participants. This intentionally small format allows for individualized coaching, close attention to form, and a more tailored training experience. Each session includes one additional open spot, allowing a second participant to join if appropriate.
Our Functional Mobility classes are mat-based group sessions with up to 8 participants. This class is a fixed class on Monday evenings at 5:30pm.
Massage Therapy
Our massage sessions go beyond relaxation. We specialize in corrective massage therapy tailored to your body’s specific needs. Each session is guided by assessment and clinical reasoning so we can focus on the tissues and movement patterns most relevant to your goals.
Whether you choose a 60 or 90 minute session, treatment is designed to address your unique concerns and may focus on a single problem area or allow for a more comprehensive full-body approach, depending on your needs. Your session may include therapeutic massage, myofascial release, neuromuscular techniques, trigger point therapy, stretch-based work, sports massage techniques, and nervous system regulation to support pain reduction, improved mobility, and more efficient movement.
We also offer focused treatment for TMJD and jaw-related tension. These sessions address the muscles of the jaw, face, head, and neck that may contribute to pain, tightness, clenching, headaches, and movement restriction. When appropriate, treatment may also include intraoral massage as part of a comprehensive approach to supporting jaw function and reducing tension.
Our approach is ideal for clients looking for maintenance care, help during acute flare-ups, relief from chronic tension, improved performance, or support in recovery from injury. While we absolutely recognize the value of relaxation, our primary goal is to provide focused, functional bodywork that helps restore balance and supports long-term movement health.
We recommend wearing athletic or flexible clothing to your session. This allows for easier access to treatment areas and gives us the option to incorporate movement-based techniques when appropriate, helping you get the most out of your time on the table.
Neurokinetic Therapy
NeuroKinetic Therapy® (NKT) sessions offer a more comprehensive approach to evaluating pain, movement dysfunction, and recurring compensation patterns within the body. Using precise manual muscle testing and movement assessment, we examine how the nervous system is coordinating movement and where compensatory strategies may be contributing to ongoing discomfort, restriction, or reduced performance.
This allows us to take a more individualized approach to care rather than simply focusing on the area where symptoms are being felt.
Because the body functions as an interconnected system, pain or dysfunction in one region is often influenced by patterns elsewhere. NKT helps us assess these relationships and guide treatment based on how your body is currently organizing stability, mobility, and movement control. By identifying inefficient movement strategies and muscular compensation patterns, we are better able to determine which tissues may need support, which areas may be overworking, and what corrective strategies may be most beneficial for your specific presentation.
Sessions may include a combination of manual therapy, targeted soft tissue work, corrective exercise, movement retraining, and motor control strategies. Treatment is always tailored to the individual and may vary based on your history, goals, and assessment findings. The goal is to improve movement efficiency, reduce unnecessary compensation, and support better overall function in a way that is practical and personalized to your body.
NKT sessions are often a great fit for clients dealing with recurring pain, chronic tension, movement limitations, postural imbalances, or patterns that do not seem to fully resolve with more traditional approaches. They are also beneficial for individuals who want a deeper understanding of how their body is functioning and are looking for a more detailed, assessment-based treatment experience.
